Selfridges launch their Big British windows

As I mentioned - the whole world has gone British pride mental over the past few weeks - support for the Olympics and all that! So naturally Selfridges have gone even more mental then most!
The visual team at Selfridges are the best. I mean these are people who take dreams and build windows. I've worked in visuals for two different stores and its always been a sort of dream to get the chance to work with them. I always google their Christmas windows as well.
So a celebration of all things British and bright? Well that includes everything they have here doesn't it? HP sauce, fish and chips, sweet shops, mustard, the seaside, the weather, corgis, the high street, tea, builder's bums - which have also inspired an Alexander McQueen collection too - GWAN THE ARSE!
I really hope I get to see the windows live as I will be in London soon for a week in June. Which I am beyond happy about.
If you are in London then do pop into the store to see the Big British Shop in which you will find all things British - including a corgi statue - because your life is not complete without it AND pop into the Big Yellow shop which is, as described, a pop up shop full of yellow things. As you do....
....and finally, have a gander at the Britannica 1951 -1953 exhibition which opened on the 4th of May in Selfridges. The Exhibition focuses on looks worn by the queen and of the era and was devised by noted curator Judith Clarke and Milliner Stephen Jones.
Then finish off your tour of the building with a cup of tea, a fag and a good old egg and chips!
