Mundane Makeup : my everyday makeup routine

Treat Me Like Fire
Honestly for a person who blogs about makeup and spends most of the time looking at makeup, buying makeup and basically suffering from makeupitis (a condition where the one afflicted suffers from having makeup on the brain almost 24/7) ... I had not been wearing much of any of it. I mean I planned to but, when push came to shove and I was sitting in front of the mirror applying lashings of moisturiser to my face .. I just didn't wear it.

Makeup is fun but it can also be tiresome - I hate removing mascara or any eye makeup more intricate and complex than what a creamy eye pencil or cream eye shadow offers yet, I have more than enough powder eye shadow + mascara to paint a whole fleet of marines (age restrictions apply to all - 24 and over *not 18or male models ... I mean I haven't attempted this feat but, if anyone is interested I am up for volunteering heck, I could even paint one guy *smirks*. Ahem. Jokes aside : I have enough makeup and I am on the purge (post coming soon) I'm definitely wanting to express myself more with makeup as I guess that's what my desire and hoard is hinting at. Hence, why I've been smearing delightful goo on my face with my new everyday makeup routine.

So here is my post about it.

Some items are old (like really old - oh the blessing of having a blog that records dates), some are new ones and some I just want to get rid of/use up. As always its super simple so don't expect to be wowed ...Deep Breath... Now that I have dropped your expectations considerably about the quality of this blog post, I will continue ... but are you sure you can handle it?

Bootylicious
This is my makeup bag at the mo. I love that's it green (fav colour) and looks like a monsters mouth when its open "Rawr" ... yes I still watch cartoons #YOLO (haha).
Ok you asked for it ...
Primer: B. Beautiful Primer. Smells like plastic feels like silk silicone. It was the first official primer I bought & its a'ight. I haven't noticed it making my makeup last longer but then again sometimes  (ok most days) I miss this step. What I have really found though is that it makes immovable products (like Iman Stick Foundation (New Foundation review post coming "soon") or any stick foundation) glide on the skin and blend easier. I just squeeze some out onto the back of my hand and then dab + smooth it on my face with my palms. The best thing about B. products is that the brand is cruelty free and vegetarian and vegan friendly :) yeah!
B.Prepared Makeup Primer Ingredients: Dimethicone, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Isododecane, Tocopheryl Acetate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Coco Nucifera Oil.
Price: £9.99 for 25ml
Expiration: 12 months

Base/Foundation: Becca Foundation Stick in Chestnut SPF 30+. Its actually my perfect shade and yes its been discontinued. I thought I'd never be hurt by discontinued-perfect-shade-foundation syndrome but I've experience it and the hurt is real ... O.K. Part of me feels pain and the other part (my brain) feels like it saved me from buying a foundation that cost £30 (when it was full price) for life. So I'm good. This foundation provides a semi-matt finish that gets dewier with wear especially if I've used a fair amount. So I usually blot the areas where even I cannot tolerate the gleam (nose, forehead and cheeks).

Oh and I bought this discontinued Becca foundation (and many others) from Fragrance Direct (The foundation sticks are now sold out). Its a great place to get inexpensive makeup or fragrance and yes the products are legit - just beware that discontinued makeup can still go off - even if they've have never been opened. So realise that when you buy any cream based product that's been 1-2 years out of circulation you might be at risk of getting a bad product e.g. it smells, doesn't offer great pigmentation or has mould. Thankfully the Becca products I bought were fine :) ... but you have been warned

Becca Stick Foundation Ingredients: *Active Ingredients: Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (Avobenzone) 3%. Price: I paid £4.99 for 8.7g/0.3 oz

Powder: Sleek Tropical Bronze - I swirl a big fluffy brush into the product and then dab it onto my skin lightly. This is meant to 'set' my makeup, mattify my skin and make it last longer. Plus, if you get oily you can always re-apply the powder to your face to cease shine and even out your skin (I don't do this because I rarely ever touch up my facial makeup because I'm a bit of a tom-boy and feel like applying makeup in the morning is enough to appease my femininity).
Ingredients: Talc, Aluminium Starch Octenylsuccinate, Nylon-12, Dimethicone, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Bis-Diglyceryl, Polyacryladipate-2, Magnesium Stearate, Jojoba Esters [+/- Iron Oxides (CI 77492, 77491, 77499)].
Price: £5.99 for 12g-0.4 oz

Blush: Mac Matte Raizin Blush. Its a very blush blush shade for dark skin. I know how technical am I! Basically it makes me looked flushed and if I'm too heavy handed it can look over-d-top. So I have to be gentle. I don't know if you've read my mini intros on my previous mac posts but, I had a bad experience with Mac and did a lil old big rant .. currently I haven't bought anything more from the brand but, my annoyance has dwindled and I'm willing to put it down to just a bad day for Mac employees (I have bad days too). Despite that, I don't think I'll ever give them much custom again though I am willing to buy ONLY ONE more product so I can back to Mac the crap I already have for them and get a free lipstick. I at least deserve that (since I've bought 5 pieces of stuff already). Oh and yes I did try to ask again for help in a different Mac store and I was basically fobbed off - I'm not even getting into it. Mac's service is crap believe THAT hype. Oh +  I apply it to my cheekbone area or round it on my cheeks with any old blush brush I have at hand. Its a nice colour.

Eyes: NYX Jumobo Eye Pencil in Gold - The same old NYX gold eye jumbo pencil ... Hey! ... No its not mouldy or gone off still fresh and usable. Do I need to tell you I love it ... As usual I swipe on the inner corner of my upper eye lid and blend it out with my finger. If I'm feeling fancy I add some to the bottom too and yes I do wear other eye shadow products but I really want to finish this believe me I'm trying. Definitely worth the price when I consider how much I've used it and it still going strong.
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil Ingredients: Completely gone from the product now but I'll link the main ingredients on NYX website here.
Price: £5 I bought it straight from the NYX UK website and from what I can remember the shipping was really good.

Lips: My everyday lip product will and does change .. especially because I am actively wearing and testing out the products I already have (I've actually gotten a lip bruise *I never knew people could get that* from all the swatches I've been doing + yeah I'm generally rough handed- I just need to be more careful and not use plain old flannels without any product to scrub colours off - yes I've been that foolish). However, I've made a pledge to myself, to actively wear Revolution Organics gloss in Freedom for most days especially since it claims to act like a treatment as well as a colour boost ...
Revolution Organics lip gloss in Freedom: In the tube Freedom looks like a rich cranberry red with shimmers but on the lips it translates as a sheer pinky red colour that glistens (so the shimmer is not obvious). Oh and yes the colour can be built up (see swatches below).  Scent-wise: It doesn't have a scented smell but, it does smell to me like one of those healthy juices made from carrots, kale and other healthy vegetables - which makes me think that its going to off at any minute hence, why this has been push to the forefront of what I need to use up.
The application process of one coat - Just in case you're wondering - yes I am wearing Becca's Stick Foundation in Chestnut in these pictures - totally perfect for me :). The camera has washed me out in the pics but as always I have not retouched these pictures apart from writing/labelling them with words and a tag.
It feels soft on the lips (tick for moisture), looks nice and is packed with organic ingredients, no animal testing, no parabens, basically no nasties ..  so I can't really fault it on anything. I also bought this for a super inexpensive sale price of £2 *Huge Smile*. I am definitely interested in this brand and I think I'm really turning into a little 'Vegan/Natural Beauty Warrior' because all I seem to be after is vegan this, natural that or at least non-animal testing products/cruelty free companies. Note this lip product is NOT vegan (as it contains beeswax, carmine etc.).

Revolution Organics Lip Gloss in Freedom Ingredients: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil*, Olea Europaea (Olive) fruit oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Brassica Campestris/Aleurites fordi oil Copolymer (Natural Shine Enhancer)**, Beeswax*, Oleic/Linoleic/Linolenic Polyglycerides (sunflower oil derived)**, Silica***, Flavor** Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil**, Ammonium Glycyrrhizate (Licorice Root Derived)**, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) oil**, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) oil*, Tocopherol (Vitamin E)**, Glycine Soja (Soybean) oil**, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract*. May Contain Mica***, Titanium Dioxide***, Carmine**, Iron Oxides*** (Mineral Colour) *Certified Organic,**Naturally-Derived, Iron Oxides*** (Mineral Colour).
Price:I bought it for £2 for 6.5g/0.23oz

... and that's the end of all that ... until I finish my foundation which is gonna be soon - I only have that much left (second picture from your left). I'll be sad to see it go but the expiration date is very short so I'll be happy to move onto the over foundations in my collection :). Oh + yeah I have a mascara in the 1st pic (the Lancome one) but I don't really use mascara often enough and its just not my thing at the mo so I made this routine truthful as most days I don't/won't wear mascara + I think I need to purge my mascara collection *Hmm - a post idea* till then ...

What's your everyday makeup routine?
Do you have any makeup product or products that people swear by, but you (omit) don't think is important for your makeup routine?
I guess mine would be contouring, eyebrow stuff and mascara (although I have products for that stuff)...
What are the reasons you wear makeup?
What are the reasons you don't wear makeup?

Your comments are always welcomed and appreciated
Much Love as Always
:o)
